Homes of the Arts (HOTA) – Gold Coast

Heard Group Expansion Joint Systems were requested by builder Hansen Yuncken to supply an expansion joint cover for the HOTA art gallery floor. The architect’s brief for the project was a high end finish expansion joint cover that would accentuate a high polished concrete floor in the art gallery.

Heard Group Expansion Joints offered our Polished Concrete Series – Light Duty Floor Expansion Joint Cover. This product has large movement range of 60mm whilst remaining the same physical size as our competitor’s equivalent product. To provide the high end finish the architect was looking for that would suit a highly polished concrete floor, a 304 stainless steel cover plate was provided.

The main difference between this expansion joint cover and our Light Duty Floor Expansion Joint Cover is the method of installation. Our installation team, Heard Group Expansion Joint Installations installed the expansion joint cover for this project.

Heard Group Expansion Joint Installations were also requested to repair damage to the polished concrete floor that had occurred during the build. PNSX Polymer Nosing System was supplied to fill the damaged areas in the concrete floor. PNSX Polymer Nosing is an elastomeric three part epoxy system which is fast setting and easy to install.

After the PNSX Polymer Nosing had cured overnight it was polished by Heard Group Expansion Joint Installations to match the existing polished concrete floor. You can review one of the repairs in the below ‘before and after’ photograph.

The end result was a high end expansion joint cover that complemented a high end floor finish.
